Four new TOC Breakthroughs

All supported in HARMONY!

1. The Change Matrix Cloud = The Evaporating Cloud + Change Matrix

Theory of Constraint's Decision Cloud and Change Matrix were major breakthroughs in helping find and challenge assumptions that block us from resolving decisions and overcoming resistance to change. The new Change Matrix Cloud combines these two powerful methods into one.

2. Defining Planning vs. Execution Change Matrix Clouds

This new approach helps us to invent new planning and execution rules by defining and resolving the unresolved decisions that cause undesirable effects for organizations or individuals (Planning or Systemic Decisions) as well as the unresolved decisions in dealing with these undesirable effects (Execution or Symptomatic Decisions)

3. The Four Methods to resolve decisions

We know that we have to find and challenge limiting assumptions to resolve any decision, but how do you do it in a systematic way that can overcome our biases? The Four Methods of Change++, Not Change++, Change+ Not Change, and Another Change now offers such a systematic approach.

4. Using 3 types of "Yes, buts..." to enable all stakeholders to contribute

Up to 70% of all change initiatives fail, but these could have been avoided if stakeholder "yes, but" reservations were used to both improve the solution and make stakeholders feel that they actually contributed to the solution. This breakthrough simplifies the process for key stakeholders to contribute 3 types of "yes, buts..." (insufficiency, predicted negatives, implementation obstacles) that can improve any solution.

All New AUDIT Module

We all have problems, right? Every organization faces gaps between performance and expectation. We call them “Undesirable Effects.” Often we just learn to live with these problems because we don’t have a systematic way to create solutions that give us everything we want without creating new problems. The new Audit function in HARMONY gives us a way!

1. GAP Analysis: what's the problem and why is it important to solve.

2. Decision Analysis: what are the planning and execution decisions that block us from dealing with the problem - using Change Matrix Cloud to define both the positives and negatives of making a change or not).

3. Resolving the Decision in a way that will bring more positives and less negatives, while soliciting stakeholders input ("yes, buts...")

4. Converting the new solution into a Better Practice in a format that clearly answers the When, What, Why, How, and Why Not, and can be used as a node in the S&T.

Simplified Sharing Options

Sharing your S&Ts is now a lot faster and simpler. You can easily share S&Ts and collaborate with them to create and/or validate the S&T with key stakeholders within your organization or even with the whole HARMONY user community.

New Zoom Functionality

The new ZOOM option allows you to present your S&T or Decision Clouds to stakeholders in a way that makes it easy to read nodes and allow you to focus their attention where you want it.

Change Matrix Cloud Graphics

Watch the video about the change matrix here: Overcoming Resistance to Change

New graphics that show the:

Pot of Gold (Positive of Change)

Mermaid (Positive of Not Change)

Crutches (Risk of Change)

Alligator (Risk of Not Change)

These graphics make it much easier to figure out what goes where.

Four Methods for Resolving Decision Clouds

The new S&T Audit functionality contains the four simple methods that guide users through finding four possible alternatives to resolve any decision.

Method 1: Change + +

Method 2: Not Change + +

Method 3: Change + Not Change

Method 4: Another Change

"Yes, but..." Analysis

Many breakthrough ideas can be classified under the banner of “necessary but not sufficient”. When presenting a breakthrough tactic to other stakeholders, they will frequently respond with “YES that’s great, BUT…” These reservations can provide important additional details needed to ensure your breakthrough tactic is sufficient to create more of what you want and less of what you don’t.
